
It’s that time of year again for celebrating parties and events outdoors, so here are our top tips for hosting your child’s birthday party in a garden – from the experience of seasoned Children’s Entertainers who have been through it all!
Provide Shelter for All Weather
The first priority for garden parties is ensuring that there is shelter provided for your entertainer and guests, such as a gazebo or summer house. As reliable and robust as our professional DJ equipment is, it’s still no match for a sudden downpour or overheating in direct sunlight – and the last thing we want is for our music to cut out mid-boogie!
Keep Guests Safe in the Sun

It’s always helpful to provide some high-factor sun cream for your guests to use, as this can easily be forgotten amidst all the excitement! Providing plenty of water bottles for your guests is also important – a famous summer-loving snowman once said that “some people are worth melting for” – however, we’d like to avoid any melting at our birthday parties!
Create a Designated Eating Area
When planning the food break at a garden party, having a designated ‘eating area’ in the garden can be useful to keep any food/drink spillage away from the equipment and dancing area. Outdoor tables/chairs can of course be used, or simply creating a picnic/tea-party area with blankets and cushions can also be a sweet addition to the party.
Secure Your Decorations

Decorating your garden can be a little tricky when contending with wind, so always make sure that any bunting/balloons/backdrops are well secured – we wouldn’t want any flying away with the fairies!
Be Neighbourly with a Heads-Up
Lastly, you may wish to tell your neighbours in advance that you’ll be hosting your party outside that day. Although we do try to keep any noise to a minimum, your entertainer will be playing music throughout the party and using microphones, so it may be worth giving them a polite heads-up before the big day.
